Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service.
In the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Confirmation preparation is a two-year process for young people and consists of two parts: faith formation classes and Confirmation Preparation. At the end of the second year of instruction the candidate will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
NOTE: Students attending SJP2 Catholic School, preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation falls under Faith Formation. Preparation for the Sacraments is a separate and distinct process from regular faith formation. Students in the Eighth grade must attend preparation for the sacraments at the parish level.
